Seidentraum was founded in 2010 by Dr. Matias Langer. The start of the SEIDENTRAUM project - at that time still organic silk eco & fair - is due to Kamaldeep Kaur and their fascinating Bandhani Silk Scarves from Gujarat. The encounter in October 2010 at the Grassi Trade Fair in Leipzig resulted in the first online shop with Kamaldeep's silk artworks. In his search for alternatives to conventional silk fabrics, Matias Langer came across the SABA project in China on the one hand, and Kusuma Rajaiah's companies on the other to produce silk fabrics without killing the silkworms: Ahimsa silk or non-violent silk. Our range now focuses on silk fabrics of this quality only, the so-called Peace Silk.
Seidentraum - wholesaler, distributor, importer
The takeover of the "organic silk" division of the Swiss silk weaving mill Weisbrod-Zürrer laid the foundation for our own range. Gradually, a range of alternative materials emerged, which are characterized by their ecological and social production conditions. In the meantime, the topic of "sustainability" has arrived in many areas of the fashion scene and Seidentraum can come up with healthy and fair textiles. The partnerships with several international fashion networks enable a worldwide distribution of the fabrics and textiles.
In the meantime, we not only carry more fabrics in Peace Silk quality, but have also expanded our range to include bed linen, clothing and accessories.
Since 2021, Sarita Knapp, the daughter of Dr. Matias Langer joined Seidentraum and, in addition to day-to-day business, is responsible for marketing and advertising as well as product development. Seidentraum is a family business and is run with the influence and knowledge of two different but united generations.
